Internships

ASPH Summer Internship Opportunities. ASPH is pleased to announce the availability of nine new summer internship opportunities with the ASPH/CDC Public Health Internship Program. The internship program is a great way for current students to fulfill their masters’ practicum requirement, as well as apply their academic training to gain valuable onsite experience. Internship positions will be based at various Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Centers/Offices/Institutes (CIOs), located at CDC headquarters in Atlanta, GA and nationally.

Participating CIOs include National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP); National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH); National Center for HIV, Hepatitis, STD, TB Prevention (NCHHSTP); National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC); and the National Center for Zoonotic, Vector-Borne & Enteric Disease. Internship positions are full-time opportunities for a 10-week period from June 14-August 20, 2010.

The ASPH/CDC Public Health Internship Program is open to current students pursuing a masters or doctoral degree from an ASPH-member (CEPH-accredited) graduate school of public health.

Fellowship and Grants

Graduate School Endowed Fellowships There are a number of endowed fellowships that are available to students currently registered for credit in the University of Minnesota Graduate School. Information on these scholarships is available through the Graduate School website.

Fulbright Program Excellent opportunities are available to over 140 countries. Applicants must be U.S. citizens. Fulbright information for U of MN students.

The Robert Wood Johnson Health & Society Scholars Program is designed to help build the nation's capacity for research, leadership, and policy change in regard to the multiple determinants of population health. To be eligible, scholars must have completed doctoral training
by the time of entry into the two-year program . Scholars will receive an annual stipend of $86,000 in year one and $89,000 in year two of the program. Complete program information is available at the RWJF website.


CDC Grants for Public Health Research Dissertation. Grants are available from the Centers for Disease Control to fund Public Health Dissertation research (R36) PAR-070231. Application deadlines: April 10 and August 10. Learn more about the CDC Grants.

Publication

Public Health Reports Student Column - Students who are interested in getting published in the Public Health Reports Student Column are being sought. Public Health Reports is the official peer-reviewed journal of the U.S. Public Health Service and managed by the Association of the Schools of Public Health. It is a new column that will run in each of the six issues printed annually. For more information email info@asph.org and reference “student column.”
