Transport and fate in the environment Prevention and control of exposure |
Exposure Pathway People are exposed to vehicular exhaust in the air they breathe everyday. The exposure pathway is inhalation and the main target organ is the lung. Higher exposure is normally correlated to areas with more traffic. However, some areas with little traffic also have high exposure because the smog can travel with the wind patterns. There are four groups that are at higher risks then the rest of the population. These groups are children, active adults (construction workers and runners), people with respiratory illness, and people that are randomly sensitive. |
